Troop 226 Uniform Requirements
What to buy
Although our Scouts do not wear the official 'Class A' Scout Uniform at every meeting or camp, we recommend that you purchase
a uniform for your son as soon as possible after he joins Troop 226. Each Scout is expected to have a uniform consisting of
the following:
- Short sleeve Scout shirt (Buy one set of red nylon tabs for epaulets)
- Pants (long Scout pants or Scout shorts with Scout socks)
- Belt
- Shoes and Scout socks
- Neckerchief (provided by Troop)
- Neckerchief slide
Which Uniform To Wear When . . .
Appropriate uniforming varies for different activities. Our two acceptable schemes are as follows:
- Class A: Full Uniform (all item listed above)
- Class B: Scout pants (or Scout shorts with Scout socks), with a red Troop 226 T-shirt,
The Class A uniform is to be worn to all Courts of Honor, Designated 'Uniform' Troop meetings, and any camp-out
where another Scout unit will be camping with us (Camporees, etc.)
The Class B uniform is worn primarily May through September when it may be too warm to wear the Class 'A' uniform
or when activities may soil or damage the Class A Shirt and patches.
Gear/Equipment Considerations
For the most part, all the clothing that a well equipped 226 boy needs is already in his closet. To assure comfortable
camping each month, we will provide each Scout with a gear checklist to aid in his packing. He may pick up this list at the
regular Tuesday meeting the week of camp.
Each Scout will find that it is necessary to own some specialized equipment, including . . .
- Sleeping Bag - Three Season Rated, with Stuff Sack
- Backpack - External or Internal Frame - Adjustable
- Duffel Bag - Medium to Large
- Hiking Boots - Nylon or Leather
- Poncho or Rain Suit (Two Piece)
- Canteen or Water Bottle
